Can A Sense Of Humor Win Over A Woman?

Humor

Do you have a good sense of humor or are you a serious person that can come across as boring? If you are trying to meet women, especially the woman of your dreams you had better learn to develop a good personality that will be lighthearted and funny. This is another of those key points you need to work on.

Woman like a guy that is funny and confident. If you can make the girls laugh you have broken through a barrier of defense that they sometimes put up and made them smile. Having a good sense of humor shows you have some intelligence about you and are fun to be with.

Do you know some really funny jokes of a non sexual nature? This is the kind of joke you can tell a girl you have just met, no sexual jokes now because you will come across as immature to women that don’t know you. Also hold back on the sexual remarks you think are funny because they may not be funny to her.

Get a set of good jokes memorized and practice telling them so it comes across comfortably. You don’t want to stumble through the story and look stupid, especially if you forget the punch line. Learn to tell the joke using some funny voices and use your hands as you tell the story. You want to put some life into it.

Is it ok to use the same jokes all the time? Well yes, no one should know the difference but it would benefit you to add something new every so often. Work on your sense of humor and you can reap the rewards that it will bring you.

Do Animals Possess a Sixth Sense

By Carole Devereux

Do animals possess a sixth sense? Do they have thoughts and emotions? Are they conscious beings? Do humans and animals have a spiritual connection that reaches beyond our present comprehension? Today, even though the human race is growing more and more separated from nature, people are asking these questions. But, does anyone really know how animals can forecast disaster, or how a dog knows when a person is coming home from work, or when it’s time to go for a walk. Some believe animals have a highly developed sense that enables them to feel the earth move before an earthquake, or smell gas escaping deep beneath the ground before an actual event. In any case, anthropologists claim that ancient humans may have once also possessed this higher sixth sense. But, because we rarely use it, we have all but lost it. Perhaps the animals can help us reclaim it.

Humans and animals have enjoyed a long prehistoric relationship that originated thousands of years ago when the animals were evolving from wild beasts into the domesticated companions they are today. In 1997, UCLA biology professor, Robert Wayne startled the dog world by announcing his research suggested dogs were first domesticated as early as 60,000 to 100,000 years ago in Hunter-Gatherer societies. He also confirmed that dogs are descended only from wolves and not jackals or coyotes as some scientists had thought.

Does your Sense of Humor Help you or Hurt you?

Humor is a way for people to interact in a playful manner; it enhances group identity and enforces social norms. Yet it can have the opposite affect- what makes one person laugh makes another person groan. What is funny to one person may be insulting to another.

Have you ever considered whether your humor helps or hinders your relationships? We’ve all probably lost a few points over the years by joking around at the wrong time or in the wrong way.

Consider the different types of humor in your analysis…

Psychologists Debra Long and Arthur Grasser (1988) recorded a number of episodes of the Tonight Show and found the following Types of Humor (more exist but these are some of the main ones)

What type of humor do you use most?

Overstatement and Understatement- Changing the meaning of something by changing it with a different emphasis

Irony- The literal meaning is opposite to the intended meaning

Satire- Aggressive humor that pokes fun at social institutions, politicians or lawyers

Sarcasm and Put Downs- Aggressive humor that targets an individual

Self Deprecation- Humorous Remarks targeted at yourself. This may put the audience at ease or demonstrate modesty.

Puns- the Humorous use of a word that evokes a second meaning.
(i.e. – I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me)

A practical joke is a joke put into action. (i.e. – A bucket spilling when a door is opened)

Black Humor- Humor based on easily offensive subjects like making love, body parts, and bodily functions.

What type of humor are the following?

May I have a glass of water?
Why, are you thirsty?
No I want to see if my neck leaks.

Developing Your Sense Of Humor

A good sense of humor helps you to solve problems, improve your relationships, and have a positive outlook on virtually every aspect of your life.

Sense of humor is something people talk about but rarely understand in terms of what humor really is. It is often defined as having a different perspective on things. This way of looking at sense of humor is only partly correct. If you defined sense of humor as just having a different perspective, it would be like saying, “If you were just 6 feet tall, you’d understand this” and “If you just had a full head of hair, you’d be more comprehensive.

Changing your perspective means going back through your entire life and looking at all the belief systems and elements that went into making up your perspective. So it’s not a simple process. A sense of humor is a very particular developed sense of perspective that allows you to access joy even in adversity.

I’m not talking about going through life and laughing things off. Nor am I talking about the fact that you ignore a problem or don’t take it seriously. I am talking about first dealing with the problem and then putting a positive spin on it.

The idea is that a sense of perspective when it comes to humor allows you to see yourself in the scope of things rather than always at the center of things. Most of us have a tendency as to believe that any problem we are confronting and facing at particular moment is the most important thing that is going on in the world.

The “Sense” of a Sense of Humor

What is a sense of humor? This article will briefly attempt to quantify what a sense of humor is, and ask revealing questions about a sense of humor. It will explain cultural and moral differences in senses of humor. Ultimately, the article will conclude that there is no objective sense of humor in the individual or societal or even moral sense.

For centuries and even today, a desirable quality in human beings is a sense of humor. A sense of humor is essentially a sense or feel for what is funny. But this is precisely the question. What is funny?

If something is funny, it makes you laugh. Laughter is associated with positive feelings and an overall feeling of euphoria and enjoyableness. Laughter and funnyness fall under the umbrella of humor.

Humor is situational. It’s all about context. In comedy, timing is everything. People can laugh at jokes, situations, images, pictures, videos. Essentially the whole scope of life can contain humor.

It is no secret that many people have many different senses of humor. I’m sure you’ve heard the term “dry sense of humor.” I compare a sense of humor to personality: Some people have similar ones, but everyone’s (sense of humor, or personality) are different.

I may find things funny that you do not.

This leads us to something deeper: sense of humor in a cultural level. Some cultures, such as Australians, poke fun and each other and insult each other. In this culture, insults and name calling are all in fun. However, in other cultures, these insults will be taken seriously and personally. As most people know, being talked about by others in a negative light is not always pleasant, but depending on the situation and the culture, it can be a funny experience for all of the parties involved.
