I was very fortunate to win the part of Marcellus Washburn. I found the “Music Man” gave me a full orchrestration to carry out my complicated dance numbers to. The music is very tuned to the actual play. Where feelings of happiness must be portrayed the backdrop themes set the moods exquisitely. The thunderous live band used in our musical directed by Larry Wilson and Paula Howard brought the crowd to their feet. I was fortunate to perform one of the major musical numbers: “SHIPOOPI” and the words are real tounge twisters. As a nashville recording artist I was very please with this magnificant musical work from Ray Heindorf…Joey Rhodes

  • The album is quite faithful to the film but loses some of the effect since you cannot see the beautiful Shirley Jones or the engaging Robert Preston. The voices however are true and many of the songs are classics. The album is well worth the money.

I first heard this music and saw the movie in 1996. My junior high school marching band played the classics. “76 Trombones”, “‘Till There Was You”, “Wells Fargo Wagon”, and “Goodnight Ladies” changed my life. It will change yours too.
